Clothing and Equipment

Across the Divide will provide group members with the extreme polar equipment you need, but obviously there are a number of items that you are expected to provide for this expedition yourself.

Here is a kitlist of the items you will have to supply. To help you choose the best clothing and kit just click on the item you would like to investigate further. I have even included links to online companies selling recommended items. Alternatively download the advice as a word file to print it off and read at your leisure or take it with you on your shopping trip!

When chosing clothing it is well worth asking if the shop or manufacturer will give you a discount, or indeed some free items. I usually get a 10% discount in outdoors shops, but cotswold outdoors were willing to up this to 15%. Lowe Alpine did even better and were willing to sell me items at trade price, a saving of 40%! This could easily save you £100 or more, and their kit is very good too - I'm still using it all. You may well find your local small retailer very ameinable, especially if they get mentioned a few times in the local press.
